The Republic of Hanshin - the first world Syaoran-tachi travels to; it has great similarities to Osaka.

Sorata
First Appearance: X-1999

In Tsubasa: The first person Syaoran-tachi meets in the Republic of Hanshin, Sorata is a very helpful man who allows Syaoran and his companions to stay at his house while they search for the feather. He explains to them about the Republic of Hanshin and kudan. He is married to Arashi.

Sorata is goofy and relatively flighty, jumping from subject to subject with disregard. He is deeply in love with Arashi, his 'honey', and interjects comments about how amazing she is every chance he gets. He is also very informative, apparently knowing the Witch of Dimension personally and well-informed about the Republic of Hanshin. He even still speaks with the Osaka dialect! Kindly and friendly, Sorata easily gets along with Syaoran-tachi although he clashes a bit with Kurogane.

Arashi
First Appearance: X-1999

In Tsubasa: The wife of Sorata. She was once a priestess before she married Sorata and gave up that lifestyle, but she still seems to have the ability to sense feelings in others. She also has a mean right cross.

Arashi lurks in the background of most of the panels where Sorata is talking, looking vaguely irritated and bored. Almost seeming to barely put up with her husband, it's unclear why she ever married him. She even punches him once! She has very kind, gentle words for Syaoran, though, when she looks over Sakura for him. Clearly, she has a soft heart.

Rayearth (Kudan)
First Appearance: Magic Knights Rayearth

In Tsubasa: The kudan, or protective spirit, that comes to Syaoran in a dream and agrees to protect him while he roams the Republic of Hanshin. He is a god of Fire and takes the form of a wolflike creature. Syaoran fights Shougo and Masayoshi's kudan with him.

Rayearth seems to favor helping Syaoran when Syaoran says that he wants power so he can protect his precious person, Sakura.

Cameo: Miyuki
First Appearance: Miyuki-chan in Wonderland

In Tsubasa: Look, a strange girl in a school uniform running down a street! Look familiar? Yep, that's Miyuki-chan. I wonder where she's going

Shougo
First Appearance: X-1999 the Movie

In Tsubasa: The leader of a gang that fights with kudan. He engages another gang in a territorial fight, where he reveals himself to have one of the most powerful kudan (special class). He also seems to have Primera as a hanger-on.

Masayoshi explains that Shougo's a good guy because he doesn't destroy property needlessly and only fights with other kudan keepers. He likes to fight other people with strong kudan, so he fights Syaoran. He seems to have a bit of disregard for the damage his kudan is doing, though, and barely avoids killing Masayoshi. However, he stops his fights respectfully and shows Syaoran respect for his determination. He is an honorable guy.

Shougo's kudan looks like a gigantic sting ray. It's a water type, and he uses it to put out the flames left by Rayearth in their final battle.

Masayoshi Saitou
First Appearance: Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE

In Tsubasa: The young boy who Syaoran saves from Shougo's kudan, Masayoshi proves to be a very helpful person. He leads Syaoran-tachi through the Republic of Hanshin and takes them out for okanomiyaki. He also explains more about kudan and their different ranks.

Masayoshi wants to be strong. His kudan is a very low level, and that upsets him; he admires Syaoran for his kudan's strength. He is generally fairly subdued, but he is easily excited at the thought of strong people, and he is also easily upset. But maybe his strength of will is greater than we think when he discovers he wants to protect someone, maybe he too will find his strength of heart.

Masayoshi's kudan takes the form of a little boy. He is only good for finding people, according to Masayoshi. His kudan first appeared in Magic Knights Rayearth.

Cameo: Touya and Yukito
First Appearance: Card Captor Sakura

In Tsubasa: Ho, what's this? The king and advisor serving tables in the Republic of Hanshin!? Syaoran is taken aback when he sees this pair at the okanomiyaki place, but it is quickly revealed that even though the look like the Clow country's king and advisor, they lead separate lives.

In Tsubasa: A round, fat fellow who wants Syaoran to join his gang when Syaoran reveals that he isn't joining Shougo's gang. When Syaoran refuses, he becomes angry and attacks Syaoran with his kudan.

His first-class kudan looks like a gigantic horseshoe crab. All its edges are razor sharp and can cut through steel like a sword.

Selece (Kudan)

In Tsubasa: The kudan that comes to Kurogane in a dream and offers to fight with Kurogane while he is in the Republic of Hanshin. Selece is a water god and takes the form of a huge dragon. Kurogane fights a first class kudan with Selece.

Primera
First Appearance: Magic Knights Rayearth

In Tsubasa: No longer a little sprite of a fairy, Primera is an idol singer in the Republic of Hanshin, and has many followers and admirers. She kidnaps Mokona and Masayoshi, thinking that Masayoshi is Syaoran. She seems to be especially interested in seeing Shougo.

Primera seems to do everything for either her audience or to get Shougo to notice her. She kidnaps 'Syaoran' because she knows Shougo is interested in Syaoran, and she hopes that Shougo will come to rescue the boy. It's rather obvious she has a heavy crush on the indifferent Shougo. She seems a bit spoiled and wants everything to go her way, but her personality is bouncy and excited. Perhaps if she just weren't so attention-grabbing, she'd be easier to get along with.

Primera's kudan takes the form of a microphone that shoots out the words that she speaks as actual words in the sky. She fights Fye with this kudan.

****

Windam (Kudan)
First Appearance: Magic Knights Rayearth

In Tsubasa: The kudan that came to Fye in a dream and agreed to protect him as long as he was in the Republic of Hanshin. Windam is a god of Wind and takes the form of a large, swan-necked bird. Fye fights Primera with Windam.

Windam is able to make Fye fly by entering inside Fye and boosting him up from the ground like a feather on the wind.
